If you’re strongly considering getting an RTA outdoor kitchen… you’re going to start thinking about what the logistics will look like.
In this case, it’s: “How do RTA outdoor kitchens get delivered to my house?”
It’s a great question! Outdoor kitchens are large and not easily shipped via Amazon or FedEx… so you may have some concerns about how your RTA outdoor kitchen will actually get to you.
In this article, you will learn about the delivery process for an RTA outdoor kitchen. By the end, you’ll feel comfortable with what RTA outdoor kitchen delivery looks like, and know what to expect.
What does the RTA Delivery Process Look Like?
RTA outdoor kitchens are delivered via LTL curbside. This is a large delivery truck that will deliver your outdoor kitchen kit to the curb of your property. (Shipment happens after you and your Project Success Manager have approved it, so there’s no surprises!)
1. What Happens Right Before Delivery
Before the delivery truck arrives, there is a little prep work you will have to do.
For one, make sure your driveway is cleared off, and there’s room for all of the crates and packages to go. This will ensure the unloading process runs smoothly. You’ll also want to make sure you have your invoice printed off as a checklist to ensure you’ve received everything in your order.
Also, make sure you have a camera handy in case an item arrives damaged, and you need to take photos.
2. What Happens During Delivery
The driver has arrived with your RTA outdoor kitchen. Now what?
You’ll want to show your driver the best place to drop off the crates, and see if they can accommodate. Remember… this is an LTL curbside delivery, so the driver is technically not required to deliver anywhere other than the curb. But if your driver is kind enough to drop off in a location closer to the backyard, it never hurts to tip them!
3. Make Sure to Inspect Your Appliances
Once all the packages are unloaded, don’t let your driver leave just yet! You need to inspect everything before they drive off into the sunset.
In the case of appliance boxes, look for major dings, dents, or holes. If you come across any damage, take photos of it and notate it on the delivery sheet. Contact your Shipping Manager or Project Success Manager if you find any damage.
4. Inspect Your Outdoor Kitchen Crate, Too
It’s just as essential to inspect your outdoor kitchen crates. These wooden crates are sturdy, but they can get damaged in transit. Look for signs of the crates being dropped or a forklift ramming through them. If your crates are damaged, it will be obvious!
If you do encounter major damage, contact your Shipping Manager or Project Manager immediately for next steps. (Remember, make sure the driver is still there!)
But if all of your crates and packages look like they’ve arrived safe and sound… sign off on the delivery and let the driver go.
