Paradise Grills Recall
Paradise Grills is arguably the most dominant outdoor kitchen manufacturer in the Florida and Texas region, with a growing presence in other areas of the country as well.
Back in 2023, 18,000 of their outdoor kitchens were recalled due to a fire and burn hazard risk. The crux of the issue was that these outdoor kitchens were not properly ventilated, causing liquid propane gas to accumulate inside the outdoor kitchen, leading to explosions.
Paradise Grills has offered free repairs to remedy this issue.
Outdoor Kitchen Electrical Fire in Long Island
In 2022, a tragic house fire broke out at a Long Island rental home that led to the death of two young sisters.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an electrical fire stemming from the outdoor kitchen was the cause. This outdoor kitchen was constructed by the homeowners without a permit or electrical inspection.
The homeowners, Peter Miller and Pamela Miller, both pleaded guilty for their responsibility in this incident. Peter Miller pleaded guilty to “criminally negligent homicide and was sentenced to three years of probation and 200 hours of community service.” Pamela Miller pleaded guilty to “reckless endangerment and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.”
Propane Tank Explosion in Cape Coral
In February of 2026, a propane tank exploded at a Cape Coral resident’s home, causing injury to one person. This propane tank was seated inside of an unventilated outdoor kitchen, and it was stated that an open flamed appliance caused the propane tank to ignite.
Outdoor Kitchen House Fire in Texas
Also in February of 2026, a house fire broke out at a home in Smith County, Texas. The house fire began inside of the outdoor kitchen, and unfortunately, the home was considered a total loss. No injuries were reported, and everyone was able to evacuate the premises safely.
Outdoor Kitchen Explosion in Australia
In January 2026, an outdoor kitchen exploded at a popular holiday park in Australia. Several guests were in the middle of preparing and cooking breakfast when the gas explosion occurred. 5 guests in total were injured from the blast.
