Joe Gorga’s Surprising Take on an Outdoor Kitchen Contractor vs RTA

When you’re pursuing a grill island project… Most likely, you’ll be thinking about working with an outdoor kitchen contractor. But if you’re also interested in RTA Outdoor Living… Your decision can become a lot more difficult. So it’s our hope that Joe Gorga can clear the air on the topic. Why Joe Gorga? Well, he’s far more than just someone who makes appearances on the Real Housewives of New Jersey. He’s also a genuine general contractor that has built many outdoor kitchens over the years. So while it may come as a surprise… He’s uniquely equipped to make the comparison between outdoor kitchen contractors and RTA.

Toward the beginning of this video… Joe Gorga explains how he used to build outdoor kitchens for his customers. Everything was done by hand with a cinder block frame. So he was laying down cinder blocks, piece by piece… Applying a mortar to the exterior… And setting a stone finish onto that mortar. Might not sound like a lot, but that’s actually some grueling labor! All of the materials involved in this process are extremely heavy. And keep in mind, Joe Gorga installed his RTA island on a deck. If he wanted to do this with a cinder block outdoor kitchen… It actually would have been impossible. (These islands are far too heavy to install on a deck.)

So just right there, he would have to make a huge compromise on his project. But that’s not the only reason why Joe Gorga actually prefers RTA over an outdoor kitchen contractor. For the rest of the answers, you’ll just have to watch the rest of this video!
