Outdoor Kitchen Drawers vs Doors

You may be planning your outdoor kitchen design and you’re wondering… What’s the difference between outdoor kitchen drawers and doors? Do you need both? It’s a great question to ask. Let’s start with access doors. What are they… Exactly? Often, we call them the “door to nothing”. Access doors do not provide true storage. So, what’s the point?

They’re far more important than they appear! Access doors are essential for gaining access to the interior of your island. In the case of a grill… This will give you access to propane tanks. It will also allow you to make repairs to your grill if that’s ever necessary. Access doors are also recommended for other appliances such as a sink or power burner. Now… What about outdoor kitchen drawers?

These are what provide you with true storage potential. There are many options at your disposal, as well! You could go for a single drawer or double drawer… Some brands like Coyote provide a combo door/drawer option as well. There are also warming drawers available. It’s a bit different than your typical outdoor kitchen drawers! Rather than providing storage for your utensils and accessories… These drawers are heated. It’s perfect for large gatherings when you can’t fit everything on the grill at once… But you want the food to stay warm.

So, what’s the verdict? In most cases, both access doors and outdoor kitchen drawers are essential! The doors are required for access to the interior of your island… And you need drawers to put all your utilities into! Point is, plan for both! You’ll be glad you did.
