There’s a lot to know when it comes to an outdoor kitchen project. Naturally… Mistakes are going to be made. But outdoor kitchen mistakes are particularly painful!
You don’t have to fall victim to them, either. As you’ll see in the video… One of the most common mistakes we see has to do with counter space. Many homeowners simply don’t plan for enough of it! We understand how tempting it is to fill your design with as many appliances as possible.
Resist this urge!
While it may not seem like a big deal… This is one of the most egregious outdoor kitchen mistakes. Why?
Well, the primary purpose of an outdoor kitchen is convenience. If you don’t have anywhere to prep food, serve food, and place your utensils… How convenient is that, really? Once again, you’ll find yourself running in and out of the house for necessities. And when you think about it… Not having enough counter space defeats the purpose of an outdoor kitchen.
So, what can you do about this?
You have a couple options. If you’re limited on space… You’ll likely have to consider dropping some appliances. While this may feel impossible, it’s actually easier than you think! When you first create your design… You often pack it with appliances you don’t necessarily need.
They’re “nice to haves”, not “must-haves”. The other option is to simply expand your layout. If you’ve got plenty of breathing room… This may be the preferable choice. There’s no need to compromise at all! As long as you have plenty of counter space… We can’t argue with that.
There you have it. Now that you understand some of the outdoor kitchen mistakes to avoid… You can feel confident that your outdoor kitchen project will go off without a hitch.
