Outdoor Kitchen Storage | A Look Behind The Scenes

Here’s the thing. There’s a lot more to outdoor kitchen storage than you might think. It’s far more than just a simple drawer or door. And they’re way more important than you realize!

Why?

Well… Outdoor kitchen storage is a huge part of the convenience! You don’t want to be running in and out of the house for utensils and other necessities. That defeats the purpose of an outdoor kitchen! So… What are your storage options?

Let’s begin with the access door. Now, this option doesn’t actually provide storage! It simply allows you access to the interior of your island. This is important to have under your grill (and sink if you have one.) Why? If your grill or sink requires maintenance… These doors allow you to easily access the components you need to work with. For true outdoor kitchen storage… There are a few options at your disposal.

You could opt for a storage door, combination door, storage drawer, or warming drawer. A storage door can give you shelving and/or pull out drawers for a versatile option! There’s a similar concept with a combination drawer. You may want access to your island… But you also want potential for storage. A combination door will give you access to the island on one side… And storage potential on the other.

It’s the best of both worlds!

Finally, there’s the warming drawer. Now, this appliance doesn’t offer storage in the way you’d normally think of. A warming drawer is designed to keep your cooked food warm! This is a great way to cook for large party sizes without everyone’s food going cold. As you can see, there are a ton of options for outdoor kitchen storage!

There’s plenty of flexibility to ensure you receive the best layout for your needs.

Access Doors

00:31
to start there are access doors these are pretty much exactly how they sound they simply give you access into the island some common uses for access doors are when you have a propane grill and want to store propane tanks under the grill or if you’re just looking to have

00:46
storage for larger items access doors also work great under sinks as it will give you an access point in case you ever needed to service your utility lines even if you plan to run a direct gas line to your grill it is always recommended to have an access door under

00:60
the grill in the event you have a gas leak or an emergency and need to service the gas line it is important to know that access doors don’t provide true storage functionality we like to refer to these as doors to nothing as they don’t have a boxed out cabinet frame to

01:15
store smaller items if you are looking for doors that provide true storage functionality storage doors will be a better choice for you

Storage Doors

access as storage doors don’t typically provide you with any access into the island it is also important to know not all storage doors are sealed with gaskets meaning they won’t be fully watertight and can allow water in with heavy rain [Music] if you are looking to store things that

need to stay dry you will want to get sealed storage doors these types of doors are ideal for storing things like charcoal or other dry goods and will cost more money than non-sealed storage doors

Combination Doors

02:11
combination doors are a great option that combines storage and access into one appliance these are a great option for people that may need access but also want to have storage functionality a common example of this is underneath a grill you may need access for the gas line or to store

02:28
a propane tank but also want storage for your grill utensils and other things instead of going with a double access door you can use a combination door which gives you access on one side and storage on the other side
