Have you ever wondered if your state’s favorite milkshake brings all the boys to the yard? If this thought has been on your mind lately, you are not alone.

At RTA Outdoor Living, we love milkshakes and wanted to figure out what the most popular milkshake flavors are across America. To do this, we investigated Google Trends data over the past 12 months for the most popular milkshake flavors in order to determine the top flavor in every U.S. state. We did this research for you, so when you have your next outdoor gathering you know what milkshake will bring everyone to your yard.

Read on to figure out what the most popular milkshake flavor is in your state.

The Most Popular Milkshake in Every U.S. State

Chocolate and vanilla lovers might be a little shocked when they see that the strawberry milkshake was the most popular milkshake across the country. The creamy blend of strawberries and ice cream was the number one milkshake in 10 U.S. states. States like California, Illinois, and Louisiana are a few of the places that have strawberry milkshake fanatics.

The residents of Michigan, Maine, and Indiana don’t let the cold winters stop them from drinking their favorite milkshake flavor, chocolate. They aren’t alone in their love affair with chocolate milkshakes; it turns out that a total of eight states chose chocolate as their top milkshake.

We can’t forget states like New York and Texas whose favorite milkshake is a pineapple milkshake. Whatever floats their milkshake boat!

The Most Popular Milkshake Overall

Now it’s time to break down the top milkshakes overall (other than strawberry and chocolate). The oreo milkshake was the third most popular milkshake in the country, with six states naming it as their superior flavor.

Another shake that broke the top five was the Shamrock Shake. The infamous green milkshake is a minty flavor that typically comes out once a year to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Maybe it’s the short timeframe and the feeling of needing to get it while you can that makes this shake so popular. Whatever it is, there is no question that people love the Shamrock Shakes.

Other milkshake flavors that made the list by being the most popular in just one state each were Nutella, peach, peanut butter, and peppermint.

Conclusion

We know that the perfect outdoor kitchen idea is just one component of the ideal gathering—you can’t forget the dessert! Whether you are a traditional vanilla or chocolate lover or you like to mix things up when it comes to your go-to shake, one thing we can all agree on is that milkshakes are a delicious treat to sip on while enjoying time at home with your family and friends.

So get your blender ready… Grab your favorite flavors and mix-ins… And enjoy right outside with your summer kitchen!
